
As decided by FITE - International Federation of Equestrian Tourism, the next International Congress on Equestrian Tourism shall take place in Portugal, in the week of 15-17 May 2008.
The coming event is to be held at the premises of the Alter Real Stud Farm (located in Alter, in the Alentejo-Region), which since the Portuguese King John V, in the eighteenth century, decided to promote the Lusitano horse, cherished by the whole equestrian world.
The Congress shall be attended mainly by the most significant international tour operators, the heads and managers or Equestrian Tourism resorts and centres, equine companies' associations and consultants, coming from the EU countries, as well as from the USA and Canada.
Participants will have the opportunity to hear and debate various visions on the potential future of this activity, as well as getting aware of what is already being done in the field of Equestrian Tourism in Portugal and in participating countries and members of the FITE, such as: Andorra, Austria, Belgium, Canada, France, Germany, Holland, Ireland, Italy, Romania, Spain Switzerland, United Kingdom and USA.
A delegation of the Portuguese Tourism Office shall also be present, with the aim to provide information on available instruments to support this activity in terms of national and international investment, as well as to promote and further develop this important economy sector.
Participants in the upcoming Congress shall have the opportunity to speak and hear in English, French, German, Portuguese and Spanish.
